What is Health Coaching

Health coaching is a giant industry today. There is an incredible amount of individuals that are now capable of putting out content in order to influence behavior of those who follow them. They may post their tips for "Eating foods that decrease inflmmation". Or give you a step by step guide on "How to manage your life based on XYZ principles". There are endless options for content. But health coaches are not consultants and they are not experts that tell you what you should be doing to improve.



Health Coaching is directed under the premise that you are the expert of your life. I can tell you what you should be doing and how to do it, but unless you have made the decision for yourself, change can be very difficult. The relationship developed with a coach is one of collaboration and trust. A place you can speak freely without judgment in order to arrive at the best possible plan to move you forward and find progress. Coaches can certainly give advice, but it should not be unsolicited. Motivational interviewing is at the heart of any good coaches repertoire. You know what you're willing to do. You know what motivates you. You are the expert that has the ability to develop the plan you need. You just might need a little help.



Coaching will help you discover your "why". Finding your purpose, even so small as it relates to a single goal, can be the difference between living a sedentary lifestyle and developing many comorbidities, or beginning a walking routine that will help deliver a longer life with more quality and fewer obstacles related to your health.
